Mid/Senior Backend Developer

Our client in the UK is an insurance platform developing their internal technology to support its range of insurance products and services. The company is looking to strengthen its backend development capabilities to accelerate project delivery and improve internal systems.

You’ll be joining a small, highly collaborative tech team and helping shape the growth of the platform.

Team Size: 4 in-house tech team members (Head of IT, 2 Front-End Developers, 1 Backend Developer) Company Size: 40 staff

Role Overview • Build and enhance internal systems and platforms. • Develop and improve backend components. • Build robust APIs for internal and external use. • Work closely with the Head of IT and current backend developer to accelerate development projects. • Contribute ideas and improvements for platform growth.

This is a backend-first role; leadership is not required but taking ownership of your work and solving complex technical problems is essential. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain backend systems and APIs using the Microsoft stack. • Build new features and improve existing backend components. • Support the evolution of internal platforms. • Collaborate with the tech team to deliver scalable solutions. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges.

Requirements • Strong backend development experience • Expertise in .NET / ASP.NET • Experience building APIs • Experience with Azure cloud services • Strong problem-solving skills and technical thinking • Ability to work independently in a structured but autonomous environment

Bonus / Nice to Have: • Knowledge or interest in AI / AI tooling. • Experience in Microsoft-heavy environments. • Exposure to C# and VB.NET (C# proficiency alone is acceptable). Industry-specific experience in insurance (optional).
