Mining Engineering
- Assist the Sr. Mine Engineer and Mine Engineering Technicians in developing and updating short-range and long-range mine plans.
- Support mine layout design, sequencing, and scheduling activities.
- Coordinate with the Sr. Mine Engineer, Operations Department, and Mine Technician to conduct mine surveys and maintain up-to-date working points in development areas.
- Collaborate with the Sr. Mine Engineer and Mine Technician to conduct mine ventilation surveys in support of ventilation system optimization.
- Assist the Lead Ground Control Engineer and Mine Engineering Technician with ground control ground inspections and data collection.
- Support the monitoring and maintenance of ground control and rock mechanics instrumentation.
- Update mine drawings and documentation to reflect current conditions.
- Support the Operations and Finance Department in developing budget models and maintaining production cost forecasts.
- Assist in identifying hazards and developing mitigation and rehabilitation plans.
- Participate in risk assessments and safety reviews.
Mine Process Improvement
- Support daily operations and continuous improvement processes by assisting with time studies, process audits, and benchmarking exercises.
- Assist the Mine Production department in identifying opportunities to improve mining processes and to reduce operating costs.
- Support the optimization of drilling, blasting, and material handling processes from face to surface storage domes.
- Evaluate new and more efficient, cost-effective mining methods, plans, processes, and equipment.
Project Management
- Prepare and submit capital appropriation requests, including return calculations.
- Support project implementation and management activities to help meet schedule, budget, and performance objectives.
- Assist the Engineering Manager in preparing small capital projects and engineering initiatives.
- Support the preparation of cost estimates, schedules, and technical documentation.
- Track project progress and assist with reporting under the direction of the Sr. Engineer and Capital Accountant.
- Support the implementation of construction and installation strategies in alignment with the mine production plan.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Required Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the Professional Engineers Ontario, or eligible and committed to registration.
- Actively working toward P.Eng designation.
- Strong foundational knowledge of mining engineering principles
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
Preferred
- 1 year of mining experience (including co-op, internship, or full-time roles).
- Experience or exposure to underground or soft rock mining.
- Familiarity with mining software such as AutoCAD, Deswick, Vulcan, Ventism, or CMMS systems.
