Job Description

• Analyze maintenance practices and optimize (reactive vs planned vs predictive).
• Develop and implement maintenance improvement plans aligned with business goals.
• Optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Reduce breakdowns and unplanned downtime through systematic improvements.
• Support or implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance
• Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA / RCA) on major and recurring failures.
• Identify chronic equipment issues.
• Improve MTBF and MTTR to improve equipment reliability.
• Maintenance Planning & Scheduling Improvement
• Coach and mentor artisans, planners, and supervisors.
• Drive behavioural change towards proactive maintenance.
• Assist with training needs identification and competency
• Work closely with: Operations, Engineering, Commercial,OEMs and Suppliers.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 and NQF level 6 engineering qualification
• Project management certificate
• Supervisory certificate in engineering
• Qualified engineering artisan with valid trade certificate or equivalent will be added advantage

Skills

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience as Maintenance and Improvement Specialist within an opencast mining and process plant environment
• Must be Computer literate (Intermediate Microsoft Office Package).
• Experience in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
• System orientated (i.e. SAP, Ellipse, SAGE or KARABO PM) or similar experience.
• Valid driver’s license code 08
