Our client is a leading Canadian asset based truck transportation provider offering FTL, LTL, Crossborder and Warehousing services. They are looking to add a National Sales and Business Development Representative to their team in the GTA. Reporting to the Vice President the right person will have 10+ years of truck transportation sales experience, have very strong knowledge of the North American market, a passion for developing new business and the ability to manage relationships with existing customers. In addition, the right person will have solid communication skills, excellent organizational and planning skills, and a desire to be part of a growing and successful company.

You will be responsible for identifying and closing new business across Canada, nurturing a strong pipeline through cold calling, networking, and targeted outreach. Working closely with internal teams—operations, dispatch, carrier procurement—you will ensure flawless execution of freight services and exceptional client satisfaction. Your ongoing engagement with existing accounts will uncover upsell opportunities, reinforce loyalty, and expand the organization's footprint in key industries.

Compensation for this role is in the $200k + range.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and pursue new business opportunities through cold calls, emails, and industry events, aggressively growing pipeline
  • Qualify, negotiate, and close profitable brokerage contracts with shippers across full truckload (FTL), LTL, intermodal, and specialized freight lanes
  • Maintain and expand relationships with existing clients through regular business reviews and proactive issue resolution
  • Collaborate with Operations, Carrier Procurement, and Dispatch to ensure seamless on‑boarding and execution of new accounts
  • Manage and update CRM with accurate pipeline, forecasting, client activity, contracts, and rates
  • Conduct market research to track competitive trends, pricing dynamics, and customer needs, adjusting strategy accordingly
  • Participate in trade shows, conferences, and networking events to elevate the brand and generate leads

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–10+ years of proven success in Canadian freight brokerage business development and account management (non‑asset or 3PL)
  • Strong hunter mentality with a track record of quota attainment through outbound prospecting and closing
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce or similar) and MS Office suite
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian transportation market, freight lanes, carriers, rates, and regulatory environment
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, results-driven with ability to prioritize and manage multiple accounts
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or related field is preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel for client face-to-face meetings and industry events across Canada
