About the role
Duties
- Develop and establish overall policy for natural resources and facility planning, development, and management.
- Make clear and convincing oral presentations to a variety of agencies, the public, and key stakeholders.
- Attend professional conferences and meetings to represent the organization and maintain awareness of current natural resource management programs.
- Prepare reports and other studies on the impacts of public use on managed natural resources.
- Respond to public and stakeholder inquiries and correspondence regarding natural resource issues, questions, policies, and complaints.
- Determine short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them.
- Monitor progress and evaluate outcomes of management programs.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Percentage of time spent TDY is 20%.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
- One year of specialized experience managing, directing, or serving as a program specialist in implementing programs related to natural resources management activities at water resource development projects for GS-11 level.
- One year of specialized experience reviewing master plans and managing natural and constructed resources ensuring compliance with Federal and State laws for GS-12 level.
- No substitution of education for experience is permitted.
- Must meet specific federal employment authority categories to apply.
- Time in Grade Requirement: 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09 or GS-11).

- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Position requires a 1 year probationary period.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- Selection is subject to restrictions from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.

- Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized.
