About the role

About Us

It’s time to come aboard! Build and manage the talent pipeline that will drive our future growth.

We are looking for a Nautical Recruiter to systematically build and manage our nautical talent pipeline. This role is a key component of our growth strategy and ensures that River Advice always has the right people in the right positions.

This role goes beyond traditional recruiting. The goal is to establish a sustainable and scalable system for developing nautical talent—from entry-level positions all the way to licensed captains—thereby ensuring long-term operational stability and reducing reliance on short-term solutions.

You will be responsible for recruiting and talent development, and will work closely with Nautical Operations, HR, Training, and senior management. In this role, you will ensure transparency regarding the status of crew development, manage career paths, and support the progression of crew members from deckhands to helmsmen and ultimately to captains.

Your Responsibilities

This role combines recruiting, workforce planning, data-driven management, and strategic development. It is suited for a structured, analytical, and results-oriented individual.

  • Establishment and management of nautical recruitment across the entire fleet
  • Development and management of a scalable talent pipeline
  • Ensuring proactive workforce planning in line with fleet growth and operational requirements
  • Developing and managing clear career paths: From deckhand to captain
  • Support for structured onboarding processes
  • Close cooperation with Nautical Operations regarding manning and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with Training and Learning & Development to ensure relevant training (e.g., VHF, license preparation)
  • Management of recruiting campaigns, sourcing, and partnerships
  • Ensuring data quality and reporting (e.g., Radiant Fleet, Jazz, or similar systems)
  • Contribution to positioning River Advice as an attractive employer in the nautical sector

What You Bring to the Table

  • Experience in recruiting, HR, or workforce planning, ideally in the maritime sector or inland waterway transport
  • Understanding of nautical roles, licensing systems, and career paths
  • Analytical thinking and the ability to plan based on data
  • Experience working with HR systems and reporting tools
  • A structured and independent approach to work
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English
  • A high degree of personal responsibility and reliability

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone with:

  • A structured and forward-looking approach to recruiting and workforce planning
  • Ability to build and manage a sustainable talent pipeline
  • Understanding of operational and regulatory requirements in manning
  • Clear accountability for successful staffing and workforce development
  • Ability to connect data, people, and operational requirements
  • A hands-on approach combined with strategic thinking

What to Expect

  • A key role in the fleet’s growth and operational stability
  • The opportunity to build a structured pipeline of nautical talent
  • Close collaboration with Nautical Operations, HR, and senior management
  • A dynamic environment offering significant influence and creative freedom
  • The opportunity to reduce risks and improve workforce planning in the long term

Ready to shape the future?

If you’re interested in combining recruitment, organizational structure, and development, and want to actively help build a strong nautical organization, we look forward to receiving your application.
