About
- The Senior Technical Project Manager (PM) will be a key member of the DT Sys Design & Dev Portfolio Delivery team, leading complex, high‑availability technology programs and critical network infrastructure projects within Amtrak.
- Manage the full end‑to‑end project lifecycle—from initiation through implementation—using advanced project management methodologies.
- Responsible for technical scope definition, rigorous budget forecasting, resource allocation, and maintaining uptime during deployment.
- Mitigate risks, track technical issues, and ensure strict compliance with DT change management, configuration management, network security protocols, and quality assurance best practices.
Responsibilities
- Drive end‑to‑end execution of network infrastructure projects, including IP networking (routing/switching), optical transport, and data‑center connectivity, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Proactively identify technical blockers, hardware delivery risks, and dependency bottlenecks, implementing mitigation plans to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
- Translate complex network engineering requirements into actionable technical project plans, milestones, and deliverables.
- Adhere strictly to DT configuration management best practices, ensuring all changes are logged, tested, and validated in accordance with network stability requirements.
- Coordinate with network architects, engineers, and external vendors for site surveys, optical turn‑ups, and hardware installation.
- Perform budget forecasting and schedule re‑baselining, evaluating impacts of changes on technical design and project scope.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Security, or an equivalent combination of work experience, training, and education.
- At least ten years’ experience, with significant hands‑on technical program and/or project management experience from initiation to implementation using Agile methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical network engineering requirements to nontechnical stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and influence a diverse group of network architects, system engineers, and subject matter experts.
- Demonstrated experience managing and publishing weekly/monthly technical status reports, including KPIs, project risks, and action‑item logs.
- Proficient in project management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, ServiceNow, Visio).
- PMP Certified.
Preferred Qualifications
- ITIL v4 Certification, Scrum, Product Owner, or similar Agile certification.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools, firewall configuration, and SDN/cloud integration.
- Prior experience in Amtrak or transportation a plus.
- Willing to travel 25%.
- Work location in the Northeast Corridor (Remote).
Communications and Interpersonal Skills
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Location: Washington, DC (Remote)
- Duration: 06 months (Possible Extension)
- Shift: Monday to Friday
- Pay rate: $60 to $63/hr on W2 (depending on experience)
