Our client, a leading telecommunications provider, is seeking a skilled Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer to join their team in Ibadan, Oyo, NG. This critical role involves monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the company's network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and uptime. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of networking protocols, hardware, and software, with a proven ability to identify and resolve network issues promptly. You will be responsible for responding to alerts, diagnosing problems, and implementing solutions to minimize service disruptions. This position requires shift work, including nights and weekends, to provide 24/7 network coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor network performance and availability using sophisticated NOC tools and dashboards.
  • Respond to network alerts and incidents, performing initial diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve network connectivity and performance issues.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or relevant teams when necessary.
  • Implement network changes and configurations as directed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.
  • Proactively identify potential network problems and recommend preventative measures.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams, including systems administration and field support, to ensure seamless network operations.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations to provide emergency network support outside of regular business hours.
  • Ensure compliance with network security policies and best practices.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of NOC processes and tools.
  • Perform regular health checks and maintenance on network equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and potentially external partners regarding network status and issues.
  • Assist in the deployment and testing of new network services and technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or similar network support role.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).
  • Familiarity with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).
  • Understanding of routing and switching technologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple incidents simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required for coverage in Oyo State.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, Network+, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Experience with fiber optic networks and wireless technologies is a plus.
