In this role within our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) organization, you'll help redefine our approach to cloud infrastructure, networking, and application reliability. As a Network Platform Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in building a secure, scalable, and high-performance network foundation that supports our future platforms. If you are passionate about modern cloud networking, automation, and resilient system design, you will thrive in this innovative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a best-in-class, Azure-driven cloud networking environment that facilitates our rapidly evolving multi-cloud ecosystem.
- Design, implement, and manage Azure networking components, including VNets, VNet peering, Private Endpoints, Application Gateways, Load Balancers, NSG, Azure DNS, Azure Firewall, and ExpressRoute.
- Utilize your expertise in both physical and cloud-based network design to interconnect systems using WAF, firewalls, load balancers, and BGP routing protocols across predominantly cloud-based infrastructures.
- Collaborate closely with infosec, engineering, and operations teams to develop a forward-looking network architecture strategy aligned with company growth.
- Act as the network Subject Matter Expert (SME), enhancing team knowledge and building strong relationships with key leaders and architects.
- Report directly to the Director of Site Reliability Engineering, with a strong dotted-line relationship to the Platform Engineering Network Manager.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for networking, including automated provisioning of VNets, BGP routing, firewall rules, load balancers, and F5 policies using Terraform, Ansible, and GitOps workflows.
- Engage in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to drive remediation and prevent recurrence of issues.
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of expert-level network security experience, specifically with Palo Alto firewalls and Azure Network Security Groups (NSG).
- 5+ years of experience in network load-balancing technologies like F5 BIG-IP, HAProxy, and Azure Load Balancer.
- Proven expertise in designing and engineering large-scale, complex network environments.
- 5+ years of deep technical experience in public cloud network design.
- 5+ years of advanced experience with core and edge switching, routing, and VLANs.
- Experience in building and deploying Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible.
- Exceptional communication skills and comfort operating with high transparency.
- Ability to create and maintain high-quality network topology and architecture documentation.
- Bonus: Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP networking, Zscaler secure access solutions, and micro-segmentation implementations using Illumio.
Technical Requirements:
All employees must have high-speed internet of over 10 Mbps at home. For all call center employees, a direct connection to the home internet router is required.
