Business Analyst

About

Our client, a commercial bank in Bellville, Western Cape, is looking for a Business Analyst for its credit risk team. You will assess credit applications, analyse financial statements, conduct industry research, and make recommendations on credit limits. Strong analytical skills and understanding of credit risk principles are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the external audit process, preparing audit files, responding to queries, and ensuring timely sign-off of financial statements.
• Mentor and develop finance team members, conducting performance reviews, identifying training needs, and fostering continuous improvement.
• Oversee preparation and presentation of accurate monthly management accounts, financial statements, and board reports.
• Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and modelling to support business cases for capital investments, acquisitions, and new ventures.
• Ensure full compliance with all tax legislation and regulatory requirements, managing preparation and submission of all tax returns.

Requirements

• A minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in financial management, investment analysis, or a related field.
• A professional accounting or finance qualification such as CA(SA), CIMA, CFA, ACCA, or an equivalent recognised designation.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to influence and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or economics with an honours degree or postgraduate qualification strongly preferred.
• For credit roles, thorough understanding of credit risk assessment methodologies and experience with credit rating models.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex financial data and present findings clearly.
• Advanced proficiency in financial modelling and analysis using Microsoft Excel including building integrated three-statement models.
