Operational Finance Analyst (Plant-Based)

The Sterling Choice

US · On-site Full-time Mid Level $80k – $105k/yr 1mo ago

About the role

The Opportunity

This is not a typical accounting role.

We’re partnering with a fast-scaling food manufacturing platform looking to hire an Operational Finance Analyst to sit at the heart of the plant — working directly with operations to drive performance, visibility, and cost control.

If you want to move beyond reporting and into real commercial impact, this is the kind of role that accelerates careers.

You’ll be the person who understands: • where the money is made • where it’s lost • and what needs to change on the floor to improve it

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll operate as the finance partner to the plant, translating data into action.

Core focus areas include:

Cost & Performance Visibility

  • Analyze standard costs across materials, labor, and overhead
  • Identify and explain variances — then work with operations to fix them

Operational Insight

  • Track and report KPIs across production, efficiency, and cost
  • Highlight trends, risks, and improvement opportunities

Inventory & Working Capital

  • Partner with operations on cycle counts and inventory accuracy
  • Investigate discrepancies and improve control

Commercial Support

  • Support new product costing and commercialization
  • Provide financial insight into pricing, margin, and feasibility

Financial Control

  • Support monthly close, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Maintain fixed assets and support capex evaluation

Why This Role is Different

  • You’ll be on the plant floor, not buried in spreadsheets
  • You’ll influence real operational decisions, not just report on them
  • You’ll work cross-functionally with:
    • production
    • supply chain
    • finance
    • leadership

This is a role where you’ll see the impact of your work daily

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–5 years’ experience in: accounting, finance, or operations finance
  • Exposure to: manufacturing, food, or CPG (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of: costing, inventory, or financial analysis
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Someone who asks questions
  • Someone who challenges assumptions
  • Someone who wants to be close to the operation

The Environment

  • Fast-paced, growing food manufacturing business
  • Highly collaborative, cross-functional culture
  • Opportunity to step into a high-visibility role early in your career

Compensation & Benefits

  • $80,000 – $105,000 base salary
  • Strong benefits package (medical, dental, vision)
  • Long-term growth into: Plant Controller, Operations Finance Lead, Commercial Finance

Who This Suits

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • wants to move out of pure accounting
  • enjoys solving problems, not just reporting them
  • wants exposure to how a manufacturing business really runs
