As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for providing overall planning, direction and control to assigned food service units. You will achieve operational and financial goals and will provide guidance and motivation to subordinate unit managers, as well as ensure effective customer/client rapport is maintained. You will be responsible for the day‑to‑day maintenance, configuration, and support of the App 8 platform, ensuring units and Operations Managers (OMs) are set up for success. This role acts as a key point of contact for menu management, unit support, and cross‑functional coordination.
Travel will be required to visit various schools in the area and gas allowance will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Conduct operation audits of regional units and design improvements to optimize financial performance and operational productivity.
- Audit units to ensure conformance with the Company, government and accrediting agency standards, regulations and codes regarding food storage, preparation, sanitation, and record keeping.
- Provide ongoing training and operational support to units and Operations Managers, responding to questions and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Manage daily menu maintenance, including adding, removing, and adjusting menu items to reflect operational and business needs.
- Monitor and respond to customer and stakeholder emails, ensuring timely, clear, and professional communication.
- Support new unit add‑ons by collaborating closely with Finance to map, configure, test, and validate setups prior to launch.
- Lead menu development activities during the summer period, including building and updating new menus in preparation for the upcoming school year.
- Participate in bi‑weekly App 8 team meetings to review updates, align on priorities, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to company sponsored retailing and purchasing programs.
- Observe typical meal service when visiting units; evaluate food for taste, temperature, appearance, and portion size; investigate complaints regarding unit operation and effect satisfaction solutions.
- Develop realistic and accurate district forecasts; monitor development of realistic and accurate unit forecasts; ensure that each unit's financial performance meets the Company and client forecasts.
- Ensure equitable administration of human resources policies, procedures, and guidelines to facilitate effective employee relations and support the preferred employer focus; audit performance appraisals and associates files; monitor Diversity action plans.
- Recruit for management positions; identify district training requirements; develop and coach management associates to meet staffing and succession planning needs, as well as to ensure optimum utilization of district associates.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least five years of related food service management experience in large volume dining setting and retail environment.
- Food safe certified.
- Proven financial management skills including ability to control product and labour costs.
- Strong motivator, mentor and leader.
- Very detail-oriented individual and a strong team player.
- Superior client relationship skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Can accommodate a flexible work schedule
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office.
Compensation
The salary for this position is $52,100-$55,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role.
