About the role

About Our Client

Our client is a medium‑sized organisation operating within the manufacturing and production sector. Following significant growth through acquisition, they are consolidating systems and processes globally, with a strong focus on operational efficiency, standardisation, and scalable supply chain execution.

Role

In this role as Operations Project Manager WMS a.I. you will:

Responsibilities

  • Take end‑to‑end operational ownership of the WMS implementation for the Rotterdam warehouse.
  • Lead the transformation of inbound, storage, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory processes from manual to system‑driven execution.
  • Act as the primary operational interface between warehouse teams and the wider ERP programme.
  • Ensure warehouse processes are practical, efficient, and scalable, minimising unnecessary system customisation.
  • Work directly with warehouse operators and supervisors to validate processes and system functionality.
  • Review warehouse layout, racking, bin/bay structures, and physical flows to ensure alignment with the WMS.
  • Ensure site readiness including scanners, labelling, hardware, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Own warehouse cutover activities including stock counts, freeze periods, reconciliations, and backlog management.
  • Lead hypercare from the operations side, stabilising the warehouse post go‑live.
  • Identify operational risks and issues early and communicate them clearly with pragmatic solutions.
  • Represent warehouse operations in regular programme and stakeholder meetings.
  • Ensure the delivered solution is suitable as a template for future global rollouts.

Profile

A successful Operations Project Manager WMS a.I. should have:

  • A strong background as a Warehouse / Operations / Distribution Manager or similar role.
  • Proven hands‑on experience delivering at least one WMS implementation from the warehouse operations perspective.
  • Deep understanding of warehouse processes, layout design, inventory management, and operational KPIs.
  • Experience transitioning warehouses from manual or semi‑manual processes to automated, system‑led execution.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage both warehouse floor teams and senior leadership.
  • Experience working within structured transformation or ERP programmes.
  • Fluency in English; Dutch is an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, MRO, spares, marine, aviation, or energy environments is preferred.
  • Exposure to Infor WMS or similar.

Please note: this assignment is exclusively available for self-employed (ZZP) professionals enrolled at the chamber of commerce and based in the Netherlands.
