The Role

The Datteln Waterway Construction Office is seeking an OT Security Engineer (Operational Technology Security Engineer) or expert for industrial cybersecurity (m/f/d) in the field of plant safety for an indefinite period, full-time (39.0 hours/week), effective as soon as possible.

Your Responsibilities

  • Diverse tasks in the field of plant technology and safety
  • Transferring specifications and guidelines for information and plant safety (e.g., Machinery Directive) to the specific measures/plans of the WNA Datteln (locks and pumping stations)
  • Analysis of IT security risks/vulnerabilities and creation/development/support of technical/organizational security concepts
  • Implementation of specifications for security measures and monitoring/supporting/documenting functional tests
  • Contact person for questions regarding information and plant safety
  • Analyzing and evaluating risks and developing proposals for improving internal control systems
  • Developing concepts for the replacement and optimization of the network infrastructure for the (remotely operated) facilities on federal waterways (LAN, WLAN, VPN)
  • Tendering and awarding public contracts
  • Planning, coordination, and execution of complex hardware/software investment measures in the plant network
  • Independent supervision of IT consulting firms

Your Profile

You should definitely bring this:

  • Completed university of applied sciences/bachelor's degree in fields such as electrical engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or computer science.
  • Confident oral and written communication skills in German, at least GER Level C2

  • In-depth focus on our facilities with topics of vulnerability, risk, and hazard assessment, considering plant safety / cyber security / IT security / information security / IT infrastructure.
  • Certification, e.g., in the areas of BSI or OT Security (e.g., from TÜV, DEKRA, isits AG, or comparable)
  • Knowledge in the area of the Machinery Directive and the new EU Machinery Regulation
  • Teamwork, flexibility, and resilience

  • Excellent diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in public tendering procedures is also welcome
