About the role
Position Overview
Our client is seeking fulltime Senior Packaging / Product Designers to lead packaging initiatives across multiple brands and product lines. This role requires a designer with strong production expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to guide projects from concept through mass production.
In addition to hands-on design, the Senior Designer will provide creative leadership, collaborate cross-functionally, and mentor junior team members.
They are a well-established consumer goods wholesaler and design house, producing large-scale, retail-ready products across categories such as Consumer Electronics, LED Lighting, Automotive, Beauty, and Hydration. Their in-house creative team plays a critical role in shaping brand identity and shelf presence for high-volume consumer products.
This position is 5 days per week onsite in Manhattan, NY.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end packaging design projects from ideation through final production
- Translate brand strategy, customer needs, and retailer requirements into effective packaging solutions
- Develop concepts, mood boards, renderings, and final production artwork
- Oversee complex packaging structures, dielines, materials, and printing processes
- Ensure consistency across packaging, branding, and related marketing assets
- Guide and mentor junior and mid-level designers
- Partner closely with sales, merchandising, sourcing, and product development teams
- Maintain and contribute to packaging standards, materials libraries, and technical documentation
- Review production proofs and conduct color, print, and quality checks
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and cost considerations
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in packaging or consumer product design
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant design field (preferred)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating market-ready packaging design
- Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Deep understanding of packaging materials, tooling, dielines, and print production
- Experience working with high-volume manufacturing and retail environments
- Strong visual judgment with excellent attention to detail
- Proven ability to lead projects, provide creative direction, and mentor others
- Comfortable collaborating across departments and presenting work to stakeholders
- Consistently delivering high-quality, production-ready packaging on time
