Job Overview

Tekberry is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Technical Writer II to support documentation and content development initiatives for our client, a leading academic institution. This role focuses on creating, editing, and maintaining high-quality technical materials, including web content, manuals, and instructional documentation.

The ideal candidate brings strong writing expertise, technical proficiency, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise, and user-friendly content. This position also supports content formatting, publication, and ongoing documentation management.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Writing & Content Development

  • Write, edit, and review technical materials including manuals, instructions, appendices, and web content
  • Organize and develop content according to established standards for clarity, structure, tone, and accessibility
  • Ensure consistency in terminology, formatting, and style across all documentation

Content Design & Publishing

  • Design and format technical publications for both web and print
  • Coordinate publication processes, including layout, printing, and distribution
  • Develop content aligned with university and departmental standards

Web & CMS Management

  • Create and maintain content using content management systems (e.g., Drupal)
  • Apply working knowledge of HTML and CSS to support web content updates and formatting
  • Ensure content is accessible and optimized for online platforms

Documentation & Records Management

  • Maintain organized records of documentation, revisions, and version control
  • Track updates and ensure documentation accuracy and completeness

Operational Support

  • Monitor and resolve HelpSU tickets related to documentation or content updates
  • Support ongoing documentation and content improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing or related field
  • Excellent writing, editing, and grammar skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clear, concise documentation
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Experience with content management systems (e.g., Drupal)
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Adobe Creative tools
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education, research, or academic environments
  • Experience managing web-based documentation and content systems
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices for digital content

Work Environment

  • Part-time role (20 hours per week) with flexible scheduling within standard business hours (8:00 AM 5:00 PM PST)
  • Remote or hybrid work arrangement available
  • No interaction with minors required
  • Primarily desk-based work with extended computer use
