About the role
Accountabilities
- Actively living our values of Customer Service, Partnership, Integrity and Communities.
- Recovering outstanding payments on Life, STD and LTD claims as referred by Disability Management Service Offices and Group Life in the most cost effective manner.
- Providing guidance to the Disability Management Service Offices for handling overpayment recovery and arranging repayment schedules.
- Reviewing and assessing claim files, including medical evidence, payment information and the policy to determine a viable subrogation case.
- Presenting Canada Life's subrogation claims to counsel and negotiating settlement of Canada Life's subrogated right.
- Negotiating legal fees and any other process aspects necessary to satisfactorily settle the subrogation.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bilingualism (fluent in French and English) required, as the position will regularly serve our clients with English and French-speaking needs.
- Completion of post‑secondary degree; a combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- Two years of insurance experience or industry related course designation.
- Excellent mathematical aptitude.
- Well‑developed organizational skills, ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Proficient decision‑making, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong customer service skills with a focus for continuous improvements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Security Clearance
Reliability Status Security Clearance
Security clearance can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment. This is a personal security status that is required as a condition of employment before an employee can gain access to Protected B information, assets or work sites as outlined by the Government of Canada website. The cost of submitting these checks will be covered by Canada Life.
Salary
The base salary for this position is between $50,900 and $76,400 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation (e.g. annual bonus, commission etc.).
