THE ROLE
As the primary People lead for our largest hub, you will be the architect of the employee experience for over 250 team members in Nigeria. You will bridge the gap between our global people strategy and local execution, ensuring our Lagos headquarters is a high-performing team.
This role reports directly to the VP of People and is based in our Lagos hub four days a week.
HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTE
- Partnering: Act as the trusted advisor for Nigerian managers and UK-based functional leaders. You will provide commercially grounded guidance on team dynamics, performance, and organisational design.
- Hub management: Lead the people workstream for our new Lagos office, defining the culture and employee experience to ensure the physical space fosters collaboration.
- Employee relations: Manage end to end ER cases for Nigeria, resolving complex situations with empathy, fairness, and legal precision.
- Capability building: Coach and upskill people managers through training sessions and coaching focused on LemFi’s management standards and compliance.
- Local compliance: Oversee all Nigerian statutory obligations, including employment law and regulatory requirements, to proactively mitigate risk.
- Data-driven insights: Synthesise local people data to provide the VP People with actionable insights on retention, engagement, and hub health.
- Change management: Support the rollout of global initiatives locally, including new performance management frameworks and culture programmes. Adapt the delivery, language, and implementation to resonate with our Nigerian team while maintaining global consistency.
- Project management: Works alongside Global People Team to support or lead global projects
- AI Integration: Champion the adoption of AI-driven people tools to automate routine administrative tasks, allowing you to spend more time on high-value coaching and strategy

- Credible advisor: You navigate senior stakeholder relationships with ease and are comfortable challenging the status quo to drive better people outcomes.
- HR generalist: You possess a deep understanding of the Nigerian professional landscape and can pivot between tactical problem-solving and long-term planning.
- Change agent: You thrive in high-growth environments and have a proven ability to lead teams through transitions, such as office moves or structural shifts.
- Owner: You take full responsibility for the Lagos people agenda, identifying gaps and implementing solutions independently.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- 5 to 8 years of experience as an HR generalist with significant exposure to the Nigerian market.
- Proven experience navigating complex employee relations and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Practical expertise managing Nigerian statutory requirements including PAYE, HMO, Pension, and NHF.
- Experience contributing to change management programmes such as office moves or performance system rollouts.
- Strong working knowledge of the Nigerian Labour Act and current employment best practices.
- Experience working within a global or distributed business, comfortably navigating between local and international stakeholders.
- Proficiency with modern HRIS platforms; experience with Rippling is a plus.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across cultures and seniority levels.
