About the role

ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Manager, Performance & Analytics, the Performance & Analytics Analyst is responsible for the collection, reporting and analysis of corporate and program level performance data and standards to support organizational decision‑making.

In this role, the Analyst supports both clinical and non‑clinical teams, with a focus on Emergency Department operations, patient flow and acute inpatient services. They lead the development and maintenance of scorecards, dashboards and key performance indicators to monitor system pressures, throughput, quality outcomes and operational efficiencies. The Analyst extracts and integrates data from a diverse set of repositories to analyze and validate information, enabling evidence‑based decision‑making for both internal and external reporting requirements. They produce high‑quality, timely reports that provide key insights into trends, operational challenges and opportunities for improvement.

The Analyst also works with internal and external partners to identify and support population health trends, support the implementation of data governance practices across the organization and contribute to the implementation, adoption and ongoing maintenance of business intelligence tools.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate of a recognized post‑secondary education program, preferably in Business Administration, Health Services, or equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years related experience in a healthcare setting, or working with healthcare related data, including a demonstrated understanding of healthcare related information, data analysis, report generation and information system interfaces.
  • Certified Health Information Management Professional and a member in good standing with Canadian Health Information Management Association is preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of ICD‑10‑CA/CCI, Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), Case Mix Groupings (CMGs), National Ambulatory Coding Reporting System (NACRS), Comprehensive Ambulatory Care Classification System (CACS), National Rehabilitation Reporting System (NRS), and Resource Intensity Weight (RIW) methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Ontario Healthcare system, including Ontario Health Teams, funding models and formulas, CIHI data, Accountability Agreements, and indicators etc.
  • Experience with Epic reporting tools (Clarity, Cogito, Caboodle) is an asset.
  • Strong computer knowledge and skills (EPIC, Crystal Report Writing, Excel, Med2020 (WinRecs), MS office).
  • Demonstrated database knowledge and experience, and skills with database software such as Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Business Intelligence systems.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and adherence to policy and protocol are required to ensure that standards are met.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple health and social system partners & stakeholders and within all levels of an organization, employing a strong stakeholder and customer focus.
  • Demonstrated ability for independent action, initiative, problem‑solving, organization & prioritization.
  • Ability to respond to many simultaneous/competing demands from multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexible approach to work, resilience, and ability to exemplify the values of NHH.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants are required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was completed less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up‑to‑date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
