CT19

Paris · On-site Full-time Mid Level 2w ago

About the role

About

CT19 has partnered exclusively with a fast-growing clean technology company based in Paris, who is seeking a Pilot Engineer to support the development and scale-up of a next-generation Carbon capture platform.

This role sits at the intersection of pilot plant operations, process optimisation, and simulation, playing a key part in bridging early-stage R&D with commercial-scale engineering. You will work closely with senior technical leadership to generate high-quality pilot data and translate this into process design and scale-up strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage a chemical pilot plant, including test campaigns, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting (instrumentation & control systems)
  • Analyse experimental data to drive process optimisation and improve key performance metrics (efficiency, cost, energy use)
  • Develop and run process simulations (e.g. Aspen, gPROMS or similar), linking pilot data to scale-up design
  • Validate models against experimental results and define data requirements for ongoing R&D
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, engineering, and external partners
  • Support preparation of engineering documentation for scale-up and FEED studies

Skills & Experience

  • MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering (or similar)
  • 3+ years’ experience operating continuous chemical processes in pilot or lab environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with pilot plants, including troubleshooting and campaign execution
  • Experience with process modelling and simulation tools (e.g. Aspen Plus, gPROMS, AVEVA)
  • Background in gas treatment, separations, electrochemical systems, or related areas is advantageous
  • Proven ability to manage R&D projects end-to-end
  • Strong HSE awareness and operational discipline
  • Fluent English required; French beneficial

Additional Experience (Desirable)

  • Exposure to plant commissioning or pilot-scale scale-up
  • Experience contributing to FEED studies or early-stage engineering design
  • Supplier engagement and equipment specification/procurement

Overview

This is a high-impact role within a venture-backed climate tech company developing novel solutions for capturing CO₂ from low-concentration sources, with a clear pathway from pilot to commercial deployment.
