About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Plant Engineer to support operations at a nepheline syenite mining and processing facility. This role will work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and external contractors to support capital projects, improve plant performance, strengthen maintenance reliability, and identify process improvement opportunities.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys being in the plant, working with people across departments, and finding practical ways to make operations safer, more efficient, and more reliable.
Key Responsibilities
The Plant Engineer will be responsible for:
- Supporting a strong safety culture across the plant
- Working with production teams to identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and output
- Reviewing plant processes to identify bottlenecks, deficiencies, and areas for improvement
- Developing scopes of work for plant and capital projects
- Managing internal projects involving multiple departments and contractors
- Supporting maintenance with equipment troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements
- Assisting with plant and equipment audits
- Updating process flowsheets, diagrams, and related documentation
- Creating training materials for new equipment, systems, and processes
- Coaching plant employees on equipment, processes, and operational best practices
- Tracking plant performance and KPIs
- Supporting annual dust collection flow audits and recommending improvements
- Working with maintenance on predictive and preventative maintenance programs
- Providing operational oversight when required
- Supporting plant policies, procedures, and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The successful candidate will bring:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent engineering background
- Electrical, Mechanical, or Mining Engineering experience preferred
- 3 to 5 years of experience in an engineering role
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- A practical, safety-focused approach to plant operations
- The ability to work effectively with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams
