Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical field.
  • Experience in DevSecOps, platform engineering, software infrastructure, software integration or release engineering.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD concepts, software build systems, version control and controlled deployment workflows.
  • Experience with Linux-based engineering environments and scripting or automation.
  • Familiarity with containerization, virtualization or infrastructure-as-code concepts.
  • Understanding of software configuration management and formal delivery processes.
  • Experience supporting test automation, regression testing or integration environments.
  • Awareness of secure software practices, vulnerability management, patching or system hardening.
  • Ability to work in structured, quality-controlled and documentation-driven environments.
  • Interest in applying automation and AI techniques to engineering workflows in a controlled manner.
  • Familiarity with ECSS or comparable software development lifecycle standards.
  • Familiarity with ESA or space-domain AI/automation tools such as ESA/OCAI, ESA/AInabler, ESA/PINEBERRY, ESA/SMAI, ESA/AIIA, ESA/AIMA, ESA/OPOS or ESA/AIQnV.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with software, system and operations teams.
  • Good written and spoken English

Responsibilities

  • Support the engineering platforms used for Mission Control software development, integration, verification and maintenance.
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines, build workflows, test automation and deployment processes.
  • Support configuration management, version control, branching, packaging and technical baseline control.
  • Contribute to the setup and maintenance of development, integration and verification environments.
  • Support software deliveries, including release preparation, regression testing, delivery checks and acceptance support.
  • Assist with secure software delivery, vulnerability follow-up, patching and environment hardening.
  • Support monitoring, logging, observability and service reporting for engineering and operational support environments.
  • Automate repetitive engineering activities across build, test, deployment, reporting and anomaly support workflows.
  • Contribute to the assessment and controlled introduction of AI-assisted tools for engineering, troubleshooting, documentation, test support or incident analysis.
  • Work with mission application teams to improve platform reliability, maintainability and delivery efficiency.
  • Maintain technical documentation for infrastructure, pipelines, processes and operational procedures.
  • Support technical meetings, issue follow-up, risk tracking and progress reporting.
