About the role
About
Platform Engineer
We are Knowledge Lab — a leading provider of cutting‑edge IT solutions for banks, insurers, and the public sector since 2016. Our interdisciplinary team of experts operates from Zurich, Mendrisio, Belgrade, Barcelona, and Madrid, designing and implementing advanced technologies that transform industries. We combine technical excellence with creative problem‑solving to drive digital transformation across sectors. Become a part of it as a Platform Engineer and shape the future with us.
In this role you will collaborate closely with our development and operations teams to design, implement, and optimize cloud and container platforms. In a dynamic and agile environment, you will work with cloud infrastructure across Azure, AWS, GCP, and Kubernetes‑based environments. We emphasize a cloud‑agnostic approach using open‑source tools and modern DevOps/GitOps practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage cross‑cloud solutions on Azure, AWS, GCP, and on‑premises environments
- Administer cloud platforms and Kubernetes clusters
- Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools to build and maintain cloud‑agnostic, reproducible infrastructure
- Automate platform deployments and updates using CI/CD and GitOps pipelines
- Monitor and fine‑tune cloud infrastructure for optimal performance, availability, and scalability
- Maintain security and compliance standards across cloud environments with the help of your Security Team
- Contribute to troubleshooting and performance optimization
- Document architectural decisions and platform best practices
Profile
Core experience we're looking for
- Solid, hands‑on experience with Kubernetes — cluster management, networking (CNI), RBAC, and containerized deployments
- Strong background in cloud infrastructure on at least one major provider (Azure preferred, AWS and GCP equally welcome)
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi, or similar)
- Familiarity with CI/CD and GitOps principles and tooling (e.g. GitLab CI/CD, ArgoCD, or equivalent)
You'll fit right in if you also bring
- Experience with managed Kubernetes distributions such as OpenShift, AKS, or RKE2
- Familiarity with network security and cloud firewall configurations
- Agile working experience (Scrum, Kanban)
What matters most to us
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to understand systems broadly and deeply
- A pragmatic mindset and the ability to pick up new technologies quickly
- Excellent English communication skills and the ability to collaborate within cross‑functional teams
Advantages
You give your best and we make sure you feel supported and truly valued. That's why we offer benefits that go well beyond the standard:
- 6 weeks of vacation: 30 days of vacation are our standard.
- Free Swiss Half Fare Travelcard: Enjoy half‑price public transport across Switzerland.
- Smartphone & mobile plan: Monthly contribution for your mobile plan plus a new smartphone every three years.
- Flexibility & hybrid work model: Work from home or in our modern office, depending on your needs.
- Beautiful office in the heart of Mendrisio: Fully equipped and centrally located.
- Excellent social security benefits: We cover 70 % of your pension (BVG) contributions — instead of the usual 50 %.
- Fully paid parental leave: 18 weeks at full pay instead of the usual 14 — giving you 4 extra weeks and thousands of francs more for your family time.
