Platform Engineer - Data, IoT and AI

Your role in the team

• Operation, maintenance, and further development of our Big Data platform for the Vienna City Group - both on-premises (VMs, Kubernetes) and in the cloud (Azure).
• Update and upgrade management of individual platform components (Cloud & On-Prem).
• Planning and execution of maintenance windows.
• Management of incidents and changes at the platform level.
• Planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of automation and monitoring processes for a stable, secure, and efficient operation.
• Consulting and supporting our Data Engineers in the deployment, operation, and troubleshooting of their applications, as well as acting as a liaison in 3rd-level support (platform admin) between infrastructure, security, and DevOps.
• Active participation in the design and further development of our platforms as a central service offering for internal clients and developers.

Our expectations

Qualifications

• Enthusiasm for Big Data as well as modern automation and infrastructure technologies.
• Knowledge in Monitoring and Security (e.g., Application Insights, Alerting, VNet, Firewall, Authorization Concepts); experience with cloud environments such as Azure is advantageous.
• Very good spoken and written English skills for working in a technical environment.
• Analytical thinking, initiative, team spirit, and a strong customer-oriented work approach.
• Motivation to actively shape sustainability and innovation together with the Vienna Stadtwerke Group in Vienna.

Experience

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, OpenTofu), automation (Ansible, scripting), and version control (Git).

Education

• Completed IT technical education (HTL, FH, University) as well as 3 years of practical experience in platform operation or in comparable fields.
