What You'll Be Doing
As a crucial member of the Platform Engineering team, you will help oversee our extensive application suite and cloud infrastructure. We are reinventing how we manage cloud infrastructure and application reliability, and your expertise as a Platform Engineer with a focus on observability is vital to our progress. This position is ideal for those eager to contribute to a high‑performance team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage observability solutions using OpenTelemetry to monitor and trace application performance.
- Contribute to Evolent's Internal Developer Platform, leveraging Backstage technology through hands‑on coding.
- Deploy and manage containerization technologies leveraging Docker and Kubernetes, with a particular emphasis on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Apps (ACA).
- Monitor the health and performance of containerized applications and address any issues promptly.
- Collaborate with DevOps to advance Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code practices.
- Engage in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to investigate and resolve issues, preventing future occurrences.
- Adhere to best security practices to ensure that all containerized workloads are secure.
Required Experience
- 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Azure and 5+ years in cloud‑native environments.
- Demonstrated eagerness to enhance coding skills across multiple programming languages.
- Strong understanding of OpenTelemetry and experience with observability implementations.
- Expertise in Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as Prometheus, Elastic, Dynatrace, and DataDog.
- Proficiency in TypeScript and React for creating internal platform UIs or developer portals.
- Extensive experience in deploying and managing platforms like Kubernetes and Docker.
- Deep understanding of deployment strategies for Kubernetes, particularly using ArgoCD and Helm.
- Familiarity with additional Azure services such as Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, and Azure Service Fabric.
- A passion for automation through tools like Ansible and Terraform.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly using GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- Proficient in at least one scripting or configuration language: PowerShell, YAML, HCL, or Python.
- Experience employing agile methodologies (e.g., Scrumban) to manage project tasks.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to transparency in all efforts.
Technical Requirements
- All employees must maintain high‑speed internet of at least 10 Mbps at their location.
- For call center roles, a direct connection to the home internet router is required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Expected base salary: $120,000 – $135,000.
- Salary decisions are based on skills, experience, and may vary based on individual qualifications.
