Position Overview

Origin North is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Platform Engineer (Full Stack) to help design, develop, support, and scale our next-generation operational productivity platform for modern supply chains.

This role is highly hands-on and spans platform engineering, application development, infrastructure, integrations, operational troubleshooting, and production support. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of intelligent operational platforms that combine workflow orchestration, analytics, automation, integrations, and real-time operational visibility.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical problems, debugging production systems, improving platform reliability, and contributing to scalable operational platforms and cloud-native applications within a fast-paced and evolving technology environment.

Key Responsibilities

Production Systems

• Diagnose and resolve production issues across Linux environments, Docker containers, APIs, gateway services, and ingestion pipelines
• Troubleshoot issues across the full stack, including frontend, backend, databases, integrations, and infrastructure
• Monitor and improve system reliability, observability, and operational performance
• Exercise sound technical judgment when prioritizing production issues, operational risks, and platform enhancements

Backend Systems

• Develop and maintain backend APIs and services using Node.js and Python
• Design scalable and maintainable backend architecture
• Write efficient and optimized SQL queries
• Support structured data ingestion and transformation workflows

Frontend Applications

• Develop operationally focused user interfaces using Next.js
• Build configurable and scalable frontend applications
• Maintain consistency across application design, workflows, and integrations
• Collaborate closely with product and operational stakeholders to improve usability and workflow productivity

Work Within Infrastructure

• Operate within containerized Docker environments
• Support logging, observability, and platform health monitoring
• Maintain and troubleshoot Linux-based systems and services
• Support deployment and infrastructure-related activities

Handle Integrations

• Develop and troubleshoot integrations using REST and SOAP APIs
• Build and maintain FTP/SFTP-based data pipelines
• Process and transform structured data formats including EDI, JSON, and XML
• Support customer and partner system integrations

Maintain Security & Auditability

• Implement and maintain JWT-based authentication and role-based access controls
• Follow production-safe development and deployment practices
• Support auditability, traceability, and platform governance standards

Required Skills

Core Technologies

Strong hands-on experience with:

• Node.js (backend APIs and services)
• Python (services, APIs, automation)
• Next.js (frontend application development)

Infrastructure & Systems

Deep understanding of:

• Docker and Linux systems
• NGINX and reverse proxy configurations
• PostgreSQL, including:
  • Query optimization
  • Schema design
  • Performance tuning

Full Stack Troubleshooting

Proven ability to troubleshoot issues across:

• UI/frontend layers
• APIs and backend services
• Databases
• Infrastructure and containerized environments

Integration & Data Processing

Experience working with:

• REST and SOAP APIs
• Data pipelines and ingestion workflows
• Structured data formats such as EDI, JSON, and XML

Nice to Have

• Experience with EDI transaction sets such as 214 and 210
• Experience working with operational systems within logistics, transportation, supply chain, or enterprise workflow environments is considered a strong asset
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or similar monitoring and observability tools
• Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud infrastructure platforms
• Experience working in startup or high-growth technology environments
