Role Overview

We are looking for a Platform Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for the backbone of our data ecosystem.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. In this role, you will oversee the architecture, scalability availability, and evolution of our data platform (Snowflake). You will be the bridge between core infrastructure and our product-facing data teams, ensuring that our data environment is not only highly available and secure but also a catalyst for rapid innovation.

In addition, this role leads the data engineering team supporting modernizing data engineering practice infusing AI to accelerate data delivery across the organization.

As the owner of the "Data Platform as a Product," you will drive the engineering standards that allow our product teams to build and scale data products with ease.

Responsibilities

• Platform Strategy & Reliability: Define and deliver roadmap for our data platform, ensuring 99.9% availability and high performance.
• Data Engineering: Lead the development of modern data integrations in and out of data platform to ensure reliable data for BBW business.
• Data Architecture: Design and deliver a robust enterprise data architecture, ensuring alignment with business needs.
• Cost Management & Optimization: Implement rigorous cost-control measures, monitor credit consumption, and optimize warehouse sizing and clustering to ensure maximum ROI of our data platform investment.
• Security & Governance: Own the Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) model, ensuring data security and compliance without slowing down engineering velocity.
• Feature Enablement: Lead the evaluation and rollout of new platform capabilities to empower downstream teams.
• DevOps for Data Engineering: Own the CI/CD pipelines for data infrastructure, ensuring robust release management, version control, and automated testing for all platform changes.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of Platform/Data Engineers, fostering a culture of automation, documentation, and engineering excellence.
• Other duties as assigned

Experience

• 10 years in Data Engineering or DevOps, with 2 years in a leadership/management role.

Technical Core

• Deep expertise in Snowflake architecture (Virtual Warehouses, Storage, Cloud Services layer).

Engineering

• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi) will be a plus

Tooling

• Strong proficiency with Talend is required.
• dbt (data build tool) is a plus

Soft Skills

• Ability to translate complex infrastructure costs and technical debt into business impact for stakeholders.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering is required; or a combination of equivalent experience and education
• Master's in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred
