Role Overview
The Development Specialist will focus on polymer film materials including PETG, PMMA (acrylic), and polycarbonate, supporting the development and optimization of film structures used in decorative laminates and specialty engineered products. The role involves running material trials, evaluating resin behavior under extrusion conditions, and translating laboratory concepts into production‑ready processes. Strong understanding of polymer rheology, extrusion temperature profiles, drying conditions, and material compatibility is essential.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with extrusion equipment and pilot production, driving experimentation and evaluating material performance.
- Lead material trials and support new product introductions.
- Troubleshoot material‑driven defects.
- Help define resin formulations and processing windows that enable consistent film quality.
- Collaborate with process engineering teams to refine manufacturing parameters.
Qualifications
- Hands‑on experience with polymer film extrusion
- Experience with polycarbonate, PETG, or PMMA
- Strong knowledge of extrusion process parameters
- Ability to troubleshoot film quality defects
- Experience with extrusion line startup or ramp‑up
- Understanding polymer behavior during extrusion
- Experience running material trials or experiments
- Comfortable working directly on production floor
- Experience with decorative or laminate films
