The Opportunity
Do you want to make a significant contribution to CO2 reduction at Roche? We are looking for a Master's student (m/f/d) in the “First Net Zero Site” department for a Master's thesis on “Data collection and analysis of CO2 emissions from buildings at the Basel and Kaiseraugst sites”.
As part of the thesis, the further development of data collection methods will be considered: from spend-based collection to activity-based collection to precise supplier-specific recording.
Your Tasks
- Data Collection & System Analysis: Collect Capital Goods data from decentralized systems and analyze infrastructure gaps.
- Collection Methods: Evaluate collection methods (Spend-Based, Activity-Based, Supplier-Specific) and document requirements.
- Data Preparation & Quality Assurance: Clean, structure, and validate raw data according to standards.
- Analysis & Modeling: Analyze Capital Goods emissions (Scope 3) and model migration paths.
- Visualization & Reporting: Create dashboards and reports for sustainability reporting (GHG Protocol).
- IT Infrastructure Requirements: Develop technical requirements, evaluate storage solutions, and update processes.
- Cost-Benefit Analysis: Evaluate investments considering quality, cost, and time.
- Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Document methods, establish processes, and transfer knowledge to stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work with teams from Facility Management, IT, Sustainability, and Finance.
- Optional Specializations: Explore BIM integration, IoT, or automation solutions (based on interest).
Who you are
You are a dedicated individual pursuing your Master's degree in Data Science, Sustainability, Facility Management, Engineering, or related fields.
- You have basic knowledge of data analysis and processing (SQL, Python, or similar is a plus).
- Familiarity with data modeling and BI tools is a plus.
- You have an interest in sustainability topics and CO2 accounting.
- You possess structured and analytical thinking skills.
- You have fluent German language skills, both written and spoken.
- As a communicative team player, you proactively approach interface partners to gather relevant information and lead projects to success together.
Practical Information
The preferred start date for the internship is from July 2026 or by arrangement. The minimum duration of the internship is 6 months and can be extended up to 12 months.

Non-EU/EFTA citizens must include confirmation from the university that a mandatory internship is part of the curriculum with their application documents.
