About
Responsible for gathering and preparing data on market trends and competitor prices to support the development of competitive price books. This role requires strong data gathering, analysis, and communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and suppliers. Primary data analysis and strategic decision-making will be handled by management.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Performance Areas:
- Supplier Access and Internet Pricing 50%
- Data Integrity - Inventory Management 30%
- Supplier Relationships 10%
- Product Knowledge 10%
Supplier Access and Internet Pricing:
- Collect price books from all suppliers within the same country, ensuring quarterly benchmarking and reporting of price books.
- Track the percentage of pricing recommendations that are consistent with market trends and competitor pricing.
- Evaluate pricing received for business-as-usual requests and orders placed, comparing them with the received price books.
- Deliver pricing recommendations and insights to senior management, accompanied by clear explanations and supporting data.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of pricing reports and comparisons.
Data Integrity / Inventory Management:
- Request and maintain accurate information and updated escalation matrices for all assigned countries and suppliers.
- Obtain updated operating licenses for all suppliers with active inventory to ensure compliance.
- Monitor the expiration dates of supplier licenses and ensure timely follow-ups to keep information current.
Supplier Relationships:
- Establish and sustain frequent communication with suppliers and partners to foster and enhance relationships.
- Keep informed about the products and services provided by suppliers.
- Stay updated on significant developments in the telecommunications sector across all countries and regions.
- Engage with Partner Relationship Managers and Commercial Managers.
Product Knowledge:
- Acquire a working knowledge of available mediums and the new technologies being implemented in each country.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, and supplier offerings.
- Engage in relevant training and professional development activities.
Competency Requirements for Position
Knowledge:
- Pricing in the telecommunications industry, globally.
- Knowledge of telecommunication suppliers in Africa is advantageous.
Skills:
- Strong data gathering and preparation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, LOOKUP, etc.) and other data analysis tools.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Behavioral:
- Organized and self-motivated.
- Objective, assertive, and able to manage challenges proactively.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Minimum Qualification
- Matric Certificate
- Communication qualification would be preferable
Minimum Experience
- Relevant experience in data gathering, or financial analysis is beneficial, but not required.
- Recent graduates or candidates with internships or practical exposure in pricing, finance, or data analysis will be considered.
Other Requirements
- Knowledge of telecommunication suppliers in Africa would be advantageous.
- Prepared to work overtime, if required.
