Principal AI Engineer

We’re hiring a Principal AI Engineer to serve as the first AI-focused engineering SME within a growing enterprise technology organization. This role is ideal for someone who blends full-stack engineering depth with practical AI experience and enjoys shaping strategy while still delivering hands-on solutions.

You’ll partner closely with engineering, architecture, product, and business leaders to identify high-impact use cases, modernize delivery patterns with AI-driven accelerators, and drive responsible, scalable adoption of intelligent systems across the organization.

What you'll do

• Act as the primary technical lead for AI adoption, helping define standards, patterns, and best practices
• Identify and recommend AI/ML solutions (genAI, embeddings, model APIs, conversational experiences, intelligent automation)
• Partner with architecture to align AI tools with enterprise guidelines, security, governance, and performance needs
• Champion responsible AI practices and scalable model lifecycle approaches
• Lead full-stack engineering workstreams across UI, APIs, microservices, middleware, and data pipelines
• Build and integrate AI capabilities into modern application solutions where it adds clear value
• Provide technical leadership and guide end-to-end solution design, ensuring stability and reusability
• Influence SDLC delivery approaches and integrate AI accelerators into workflows
• Review and approve solution designs for alignment with business outcomes, architectural principles, SLAs, and quality benchmarks

Requirements

• Strong full-stack engineering experience 8+ years (front-end + backend + APIs)
• Experience building modern applications using cloud-native patterns (microservices, middleware, CI/CD, automation)
• Hands-on exposure to AI implementation (LLM APIs, embeddings, RAG patterns, agent workflows, intelligent automation)
• Comfort leading technical direction and influencing architecture decisions
• Strong communication skills and ability to guide technical and non-technical stakeholders

Bonus if you have

• Experience delivering enterprise-level platforms or internal developer tools
• Experience with model governance, responsible AI practices, or scalable AI patterns
• Experience introducing AI accelerators or automation into SDLC / engineering operations
