About the Role
The Principal will serve as the educational leader of the school, responsible for academic excellence, operational management, staff development, stakeholder engagement, and the financial sustainability of the school. This role requires a dynamic, visionary leader who can inspire staff, students, and parents while ensuring that the school thrives in a competitive education landscape. International experience and IB or Cambridge curriculum experience is necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence & People Leadership
- Oversee the full day-to-day operations of the school, including safeguarding, discipline, and resource management.
- Lead recruitment, development, and retention of high-quality academic and support staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional excellence across all levels of the institution.
Financial Sustainability & Strategic Management
- Manage school budgets, financial planning, and reporting with a focus on long-term sustainability and operational efficiency.
- Ensure effective allocation of resources, infrastructure development, and enrolment growth within an independent school framework.
Stakeholder Engagement & Institutional Growth
- Serve as the key representative of the school to parents, governing bodies, and external stakeholders.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with the school community while enhancing the institution’s reputation, visibility, and long-term strategic partnerships.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in education (Honours, Master’s, or MBA advantageous).
- Valid SACE registration.
- At least 5 years teaching experience and at least 3–5 years in senior leadership (Principal/Head of School).
- Proven track record in academic improvement, staff leadership, and financial management.
- Knowledge of South African education legislation and policies relevant to school management
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong business acumen and ability to manage a school as both an educational and commercial entity.
- Experience of IB and or Cambridge curriculum.
- Solid understanding of university entrance requirements in South Africa
