Role Summary
We are partnering with a leading global consulting firm to hire a Principal Data Engineer (Product Data Domains) for a UK-based telecommunications company. The Product Group is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of a diverse portfolio of digital products, including a major streaming media destination, a globally trusted news platform, educational and entertainment content for children of all ages, and a comprehensive sports service offering results, analysis, and commentary. Working closely with the company’s content divisions, the team is focused on increasing engagement across all platforms so that these services become a valued part of users’ daily routines, much like television and radio have been for decades.
Data is central to this ambition, supporting both product decision-making and the delivery of more personalized audience experiences. The scale and diversity of the portfolio provide access to one of the most exciting and wide-ranging datasets in the UK, creating a unique opportunity for data-driven innovation.
Key Responsibilities • Lead the design and architecture of robust, scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data • Optimize pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability in line with enterprise-level demands • Build and maintain ETL pipelines to support data products and high-value business use cases • Drive improvements in data quality, governance, and security, ensuring compliance with internal standards and industry best practices • Translate stakeholder requirements into effective and timely data solutions • Develop and manage automated workflows, including monitoring and alerting systems • Collaborate within agile, cross-functional teams including data engineers, product analysts, data managers, and other stakeholders • Mentor and support team members to promote best practices and maximize value from data across the organization • Define and uphold engineering standards for coding, testing, and deployment • Lead the development and testing of business continuity and disaster recovery processes • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations based on domain expertise
Requirements • 7+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering, ideally within digital product environments • Strong experience building ETL pipelines and ingesting data from diverse sources, including event streams and batch processing systems • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python • Extensive hands-on experience with AWS • Solid understanding of data warehousing technologies such as Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake • Experience deploying and scheduling data workflows using tools like Airflow • Proven experience working with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Data Scientists, Analysts, and Infrastructure Engineers
P.S: The location for this role is Latvia. The hiring company is open to relocating the potential candidate to this country.

Pay: ₦3,500,000.00 - ₦5,000,000.00 per month
