Principal Data Engineer

About

We are searching for a Principal Data Engineer to join a small Data Engineering & platform team supporting research, ML, and sophisticated analytics. In this position you will be working with high-availability realtime data related to utilities, usage, pricing, and market information. This is a Senior/Principal-level position ideal for someone who has experience across a variety of data tools & techniques and is looking for the ability to make critical, independent decisions.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining Data warehouse/lakehouse environments, ingestion models & pipelines, data integrations/APIs, and more.
• Working closely with advanced analytics teams to understand their needs and creating custom solutions.
• 80% Hands On
• 20% Team Collaboration

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering
• Databases
• Data Structures
• Data Lake/Lakehouse
• Data Pipelines (ETL/ELT)
• APIs/integrations
• Python
• SQL
• Solid grasp of technical concepts including data normalization, integrity concerns, backups, documentation best practices, and requirements gathering & design.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics, or similar
• Prior experience supporting an R&D or startup team
