Principal DevOps Engineer

Summary

CareFirst is in the process of migrating over 300 applications to the cloud and is seeking a hands-on Principal DevOps Engineer to lead the development and optimization of production-grade DevOps pipelines. This role will support the transition of applications to AWS, leveraging services such as EKS and EC2.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience building CI/CD pipelines and will collaborate closely with internal teams to support integration and connectivity across CareFirst's cloud environment and product ecosystem.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of overall IT experience
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud and CI/CD pipeline development for Kubernetes deployments
• Experience using Helm charts for configuration packaging and deployment
• Kubernetes experience, including deployment within EC2
• Experience with ISTIO (or a similar service mesh) for secure deployments
• Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting
• Familiarity with artifact repository tools (e.g., GitHub, Nexus, Artifactory, CloudBees)
• Experience using Jira and Confluence
• Strong background in Linux and Windows system administration
