What You'll Do and Who You'll Work With:
Reporting directly to the Director of Electrical Engineering, the Principal Engineer will be responsible for:

  1. Electrical engineering design aspects of capital projects, facility upgrades
  2. Electrical design support for planned outages, and design requirements related to equipment troubleshooting
  3. Business development/expansion projects at various operating facilities

The position will also lead, manage and execute multiple electrical projects/programs in the network. The Engineer will provide subject‑matter expertise and lead cross‑functional teams while driving technical standardization as a guardian of certain Electrical Design Standards for Reworld. Acting as a potential mentor for more junior members of the team, the Engineer will share best practices and technical expertise. This is a unique opportunity to work across stakeholders and groups, with high visibility in the organization and will have direct, tangible impact on our success. You will also act as a primary Electrical Engineering SME to the business.

Location / Travel:
Preferred location is Florham Park, NJ (headquarters). The role includes ~20 % travel across the network, including domestic locations and low‑cost‑countries such as China. A remote‑work option is available with additional travel to Florham Park and across the network. Compensation varies depending on location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical Design (Core Responsibility)

    • Independently develop/review/approve Electrical System Design documents including One Line/Three Line Diagrams, Control Schematics, Wiring diagrams, Arc Flash, Short Circuit & Voltage Drop Calculations, Coordination Studies.
    • Develop scope of work for Electrical AE firms and coordinate with suppliers and contractors.
    • Plan design tasks so both the design and construction will be achieved within budget constraints and schedule.
    • May assume the duties of technical lead and subject‑matter expert for small to medium capital programs.
    • Electrical Design scope includes System Design, Scope Development, Engineering Calculations, Specifications, and Risk Assessments for HV, MV systems (Switchgears, transformers, Motor Control Centers, Relay/Protection Systems).
  • Engineering Standards (Core Responsibility)

    • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications for engineering design.
    • Serve as guardian of key Electrical Design Standards/Specifications as SME for Reworld Electrical Team.
    • Update design standards and specifications periodically to keep up with industry best practices, regulatory developments, etc.
  • Commissioning / Startup

    • Provide SME design support to Project Managers on assigned construction projects.
    • Provide engineering support for commissioning and installations for assigned design projects.
  • Troubleshooting / Problem Solving

    • Provide Electrical Engineering design troubleshooting support to plant operations.
    • Analyze electrical failure root causes and develop cost‑effective technical solutions for RCAs.

Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years engineering experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain future licensure is preferred.

Experience

  • Experience with high, medium & low voltage distribution systems and electrical power generation in large utility power plants or large industrial co‑generation facilities or design/architectural engineering firms.
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in developing and understanding One Line/Three Line Diagrams, DC Control Schematics, Wiring diagrams, GA drawings related to interconnections, substations, power plants and electrical aspects of process plants (motors, MCCs, PDCs, etc.).
  • Experience with all phases of a project including preliminary conceptual system design, scoping, detailed design, equipment selection, equipment testing and start‑up problem resolution (equipment includes substation, power plant and process plant equipment; voltage ranges vary from HV > 100 kV to low voltage 480 V).
  • Experience with protective relaying schemes (Medium Voltage) including coordination and development of relay settings; SEL relays experience is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as CAD/AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM Powertools, SEL Acselerator, etc.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to analyze data, write technical reports, and develop work packages to implement.

Pay Transparency

Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably and strives to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld’s reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on the primary posting location. The final salary offered will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements, and any applicable union contracts.

Pay range for the primary location: $118,700 – $169,800 USD (annualized; for hourly roles, divide by 2,080).
