About the Role

The AI-Automation Principal Engineer is responsible for architecting, managing, designing, developing, and maintaining AI-powered solutions leveraging Microsoft AI services and Azure Copilot for the Source Make and Deliver team (SMD) across functions and regions. This role requires management of business stakeholders and coordination of technical internal and external teams to integrate AI capabilities into workflows, automate processes, and enable data-driven decision-making. The focus is on practical application of AI, managing and delivering high-impact solutions that optimize productivity, streamline operations, and enhance user experiences with a strong emphasis on AI-powered automation to transform repetitive tasks into intelligent, self-optimizing processes. The role also requires a solid understanding of modern data architecture principles, ensuring AI-driven use cases are built on a reliable, scalable, and well-structured data foundation, including designing solutions that align with enterprise data models and governance policies.

What You Will Do

  • Stakeholders Management for AI projects and deliverables from paper to product.
  • Communicate complex, difficult concepts and solutions to facilitate management review and approval.
  • Manage contractors and consultants' deliverables for project-related milestones.
  • Provide long term service strategies proposal for AI-Automation initiatives.
  • Design and implement AI solutions using MS AI Studio, Azure OpenAI, and other tools to automate and enhance business processes within enterprise apps (e.g. Outsystems) and SAP ERP systems like S4 Hana, Ariba, Supplyon, Ivalua.
  • Develop intelligent process automation solutions, including document processing, natural language interaction, and predictive analytics.
  • Collaborate with data architects to align AI solutions with enterprise data architecture and governance standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, peers, and cross-functional resources to identify and prioritize AI-driven automation and enhancement opportunities based on key business objectives.
  • Review existing data landscape to identify opportunities for AI-driven use cases leveraging well-structured data.
  • Conduct testing, validation, and performance tuning to ensure robust and reliable AI-enabled applications.
  • Provide training and knowledge sharing to business and technical users on AI capabilities and best practices.
  • Document system architecture of solutions or technical application landscape.

What You Need to Be Successful

  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in AI solution development, including Microsoft AI and Azure services.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Copilot, Azure OpenAI, and related AI/ML tools.
  • Experience with data processing, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted workflows.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise integration (APIs, REST/SOAP) and automation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms such as SAP ECC or S4 Hana, BTP and Low / No Code integrations.
  • Understanding of modern data architecture concepts, including data lakes, data warehouses, and integration patterns.
  • Ability to evaluate and leverage existing enterprise data structures to enable optimal AI-driven use cases.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including the proven ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment.

Bonus Points if You Have

  • Familiarity with SAP platforms.
  • Practical experience on Low / No Code integrations based on Outsystems.
  • Practical experience with MS Fabric Platform and LLM languages.
  • Experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) and AI Builder.
