As a Principal Engineer on our Rotating Equipment Services team, you will provide technical leadership across complex nuclear projects, with a primary focus on Reactor Coolant Pumps (RCPs) and seal technology. The end goal is supporting safe, reliable plant operation across the nuclear fleet.
You will report to the Manager of RES Engineering and will be located at our Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA. This is a mobile role that is expected onsite 3-4 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and approve equipment repair plans, engineering procedures, drawings, and technical specifications
- Provide technical leadership and engineering oversight to shop personnel during inspection, repair, manufacturing, and assembly of Reactor Coolant Pump components
- Review and disposition non-conformances and technical documentation generated by suppliers and internal operations
- Serve as a technical advisor to equipment owners (customers) on RCP maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational best practices
- Collaborate effectively within cross‑functional teams, including Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Technicians, and external suppliers
- Provide technical input and leadership during proposal development and customer engagements
- Define and evaluate critical equipment characteristics to support equipment qualification and commercial dedication activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 7+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within the nuclear industry
- Strong working knowledge of industrial mechanical components, including pumps, valves, mechanical seals, motors, and related equipment
- Experience with manufacturing and inspection processes (e.g., machining, welding, NDE)
Compensation
The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $103,200.00 to $129,000.00 per year.
