Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Engineer Construction, Level 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position is located in Falls Church, VA.

Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assist with Northrop Grumman Construction Project Management Tool (Procore) system administration as requested. Including: serving as a system subject matter expert, maintaining and optimizing SOP’s, workflows, and permissions at the company level, ensuring compliance with company policies and project requirements, etc.
  • Manage and execute multiple facilities projects and construction activities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Oversee and manage facilities projects and construction activities, serving as a liaison between leadership and customers.
  • Serve as the focal POC for NG Real Estate, Global Supply Chain, IT, Security, AV, EHS, etc., on all projects assigned.
  • Project Manage the holistic Cradle to Grave Construction Project Management process (Requirements Gathering, Estimating and Budgeting, Bidding, Site Selection, Vendor Selection, Schematic Design, Detailed Design, Permitting, Schedule Performance, Technical Performance, Construction, Cost Control, Close-Out, etc.)
  • Recommend architectural and engineering design procedures and standards for the planning and design of facilities.
  • Coordinate with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
  • Prepare scopes of work and supporting documents for the procurement of design and construction services.
  • Prepare architectural and engineering cost estimates and schedules.
  • Review and estimate costs, including design, equipment, installation, labor, materials, construction, and other related costs.
  • Prepare bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.
  • Supervise the detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects.
  • Produce and implement risk mitigation and schedule recovery plans as required.
  • Inspect or direct the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Forecast and report on project status, including key project metrics for risk, cost, and schedule.
  • Prepare and present reports on project status, including timelines, budgets, and any deviation from the original plan.

  • Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and nontechnical personnel.
  • Ability to both prepare presentations and present project status at various levels within organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM with a minimum of 4 years commercial construction project management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the job function (i.e. Bluebeam, MS Project, PowerPoint and other construction project management software).
  • Experience in managing both small and large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials.
  • Ability to support overseeing construction projects in different time zones.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the job function (i.e. Procore (as a company admin) and Lucid.)
  • Facilities experience in the Defense sector along with detailed understanding of security standard ICD 705.
  • Experience with constructing various types of construction projects; Class A Office Space, Classified Space (IDC 705 with Tempest Countermeasures), Manufacturing Space, Cleanrooms, Hangars, Paint booths, etc.
  • Experience with different construction delivery methods; Design Build, Design Bid Build, GPM, GPM Max, etc.

Salary Range

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
