BCI, under multiple contracts with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Defense (DoD) in Atlantic City, NJ, and Philadelphia, PA, is looking to hire an individual to provide System Engineering support to multiple Aviation Programs, specifically the Rotorcraft Safety task area. This includes Rotorcraft Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) & Helicopter Enhanced/Synthetic Vision Systems research tasking. Knowledge of Performance‑Based Navigation for Rotorcraft, Helicopter Low‑Level Infrastructure, Heliport Lighting and Weather, Rotorcraft‑Unmanned Aircraft Interactions, Laser Eye Protection for Helicopters, and Helicopter Maneuvers research is a benefit.

Position Overview

  • Job Start Date: Immediate
  • Shift: 8 am – 5 pm / Monday‑Friday

Experience Required (including Degree, Certifications)

  • Education: An M.S. in Engineering with focus on Aeronautics and/or Electronics is required.
  • Additional Required Experience:
    • Knowledge/experience with engineering and support to the Vertical Flight Aviation Safety Technologies (VFAST) lab
    • Knowledge/experience with the FAA's System Safety Section
    • Knowledge/experience with systems engineering of the FAA's Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) branch
    • Familiarity with the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center Labs
    • Experience with Human‑In‑The‑Loop (HITL) and Fast Time simulations with UAS and VFAST
    • Familiarity with the CASSIE platform

Description of Duties

  • Perform systems engineering including installation, configuration of simulators
  • Provide network administration of all VFAST systems
  • Perform installation, configuration, and maintenance of a video/audio recording system in the VFAST lab with more than 50 video feeds
  • Conduct systems engineering, installation and configuration of portable recording systems for real helicopters (cameras, microphone, A429 recorder, HFDM…)
  • Perform engineering of installation and configuration of weather, radio, and GPS equipment on the field at the ACY helipad trailer
  • Conduct network administration of three CASSIE subnets including assigning addresses, managing NATs for users, coordinating with users and RDOE admins
  • Support the FAA's Helicopter Advanced Vision Systems research
  • Manage VFAST, CASSIE, HPC virtual machines on the RDOE VMWare cluster
  • Coordinate with RDOE administrators for everything related to network, NATs, firewalls, resources, physical installation in racks in the jobshop
  • HPC: Provide BigFix (cyber security tool) support as needed to keep the HPC (High Power Computing) platform running

Travel Requirement

  • Travel to vendor and other FAA facilities for testing is required.

Security Clearance Requirements

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
  • If hired into an FAA position, applicants will be required to complete the FAA's Vendor Application Procedures (VAP), which includes an investigation by FAA security to be deemed eligible for public trust or sensitive positions.
  • If hired into a DoD position, applicants will be subjected to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
