- Define and drive the hardware roadmap in coherence with the system roadmap, business, and industrial challenges.
- Build and deploy Make or Buy strategies for the scope by developing long-term partnerships for the HW scope.
Architecture & System Integration
- Lead the hardware architecture and integration of mechanical, robotic, and electrical subsystems.
- Translate system requirements into hardware components: architecture, mechanical and electrical interfaces, performance, safety, ergonomics, reliability, and maintainability constraints.
- Ensure the coherence of mechanical, electrical, and system interfaces (space, routing, thermal dissipation, compatibility).
Design & Technology Choices
- Lead choices for materials, surface treatments, and industrial processes (machining, injection molding, sheet metal, composites, additive manufacturing).
- Influence choices related to electrical integration: wiring, connectors, power management, thermal and EMC requirements in coordination with dedicated teams.
- Ensure the best performance/cost/industrialization equation for all hardware.
Technical Excellence, Safety & Reliability

- Be responsible for product safety, including risks related to suspended masses, moving parts, and electromechanical interfaces.
- Define hardware validation, verification, and reliability strategies (mechanical and electromechanical).
- Monitor field reliability performance and contribute to the reduction of Cost of Poor Quality.
Leadership & Transversal Influence
- Be a reference technical leader, capable of influencing without direct hierarchical link.
- Mentor and guide architects, mechanical designers, and senior hardware engineers.
- Disseminate best practices, methods, and tools (calculations, tests, change management).
- Drive technological innovation and continuous improvement initiatives at a global scale.
Profile
Technical Expertise
- Confirmed expertise in hardware systems engineering: mechanical, electromechanical, mechatronics.
- Solid mastery of mechanical calculations (static, dynamic, fatigue, thermal, tolerancing, metrology).
- Understanding of constraints related to electrical integration (interfaces, power, thermal, reliability).
- Excellent mastery of CAD/CAE tools (especially Creo).
- Proven ability to lead complex developments with external partners, structured in work packages, in an international environment.
- Knowledge of medical regulations (imaging) is a plus.
Principal Engineer Posture
- Strong technical credibility and natural leadership.
- Ability to arbitrate, decide, and commit to long-term structuring choices.
- Clear communication, effective synthesis, and strong sense of responsibility.
- Pragmatic, results-oriented, with recognized technical rigor.
Experience & Education
