About
Johnson Controls is looking for an expert in industrial refrigeration technology in Switzerland to technically lead our most complex NH3 projects through to commissioning and provide technical support for the project portfolio. You will support project engineers and project managers with practical know-how, solve critical problems during start-up phases, and ensure escalation support in operation if necessary. Additionally, you will take on mentoring tasks for younger colleagues. German or English is required (the other language is an advantage). No university degree is necessary – proven industrial refrigeration experience is crucial.
Your Responsibilities:
- Technical leadership of the most complex NH3 projects covering design, construction/assembly coordination, and commissioning; ensuring first-time-right start-ups and acceptances.
- Technical support for the project portfolio:
- Design reviews, risk assessments, and approvals/deviations for critical decisions.
- Practical support for project engineers and project managers:
- Component selection, R&I/P&IDs, dimensioning, piping concepts, defrosting concepts, oil management, safety functions, and control concepts.
- Escalation support in operation after commissioning:
- Diagnosis and solutions for complex plant problems, structured fault analysis.
- Mentoring/coaching of younger colleagues through reviews, on-the-job training, and short technical meetings; building competence within the team.
- Technical representation of Johnson Controls towards customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Your Qualifications:
- Extensive, practical experience in industrial refrigeration technology with a focus on NH3; ideally 20+ years (depth/relevance count).
- Proven independent work:
- Design decisions, commissioning/start-up troubleshooting, and complex fault diagnostics in operation.
- Confident reading and questioning of R&I/P&IDs and technical documentation; practical understanding of plant behavior and typical fault patterns.
- No university degree is mandatory; an apprenticeship/technician or engineering education is also possible – proven experience is decisive.
- Knowledge in the area of natural refrigerants, especially ammonia, is a strong advantage.
- Language skills:
- Fluent German or English; the other language is an advantage.
