Join us in shaping the future! As the Principal Engineer for HighByte, you will take on the role of system owner for the HighByte Intelligence Hub throughout our global network. Your mission will be to establish standards, lead architecture initiatives, and enable high-performance manufacturing data solutions that empower analytics and decision-making. You will transform executive vision into practical architectures, construct and oversee our Unified Namespace (UNS), and drive contextualization aligned with ISA 95/ISA 88, integrating data across OT/IT, MES, LIMS, QMS, CMMS, ERP, and cloud platforms. Your Responsibilities
- Lead strategy and roadmaps: Provide guidance on Industry 4.0 and manufacturing data strategies; develop multi-year roadmaps for UNS, event-driven architectures, OT/IT convergence, and cloud/hybrid patterns.
- Define enterprise standards: Create ISA 95/ISA 88 aligned models, including topic hierarchies, naming conventions, and canonical payload standards to ensure seamless interoperability.
- Own the HighByte platform: Govern standards, configurations, lifecycle management, documentation, and platform health to ensure scalability and reliability.
- Orchestrate data integration: Design and guide Industrial DataOps pipelines across PLC/SCADA/DCS, historians, MES/LIMS/QMS/CMMS/ERP, cloud data platforms, and APIs.
- Embed compliance by design: Apply GAMP5/CSA principles, manage deliverables like URS and risk testing, and support audits and inspections.
- Monitor performance: Define and track KPIs including latency and throughput, and implement observability and alerting for UNS and pipelines.
- Manage risk: Identify architectural risks and technical debt, leading trade-off analyses and mitigation planning.
- Translate and deliver: Convert business needs into compelling designs and produce relevant architecture artifacts; coordinate with internal teams and enable readiness for change.
- Enable people and partners: Collaborate with Manufacturing, QA/ITQ, OT, Cybersecurity, and external partners to develop playbooks and provide training.
- Innovate and improve: Assess edge, streaming, and schema registry patterns; lead pilot projects and implement enhancements for reliability and analytics outcomes.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Typically requires 12+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's; or 8+ years with a Master's; or 5+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience.
- At least 6 years in Industry 4.0/manufacturing data, particularly in OT environments, historians, IT/OT integration, and cloud/hybrid infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on experience with HighByte Intelligence Hub, UNS architectures, and ISA 95/ISA 88 data models in regulated industries.
- Experience in platform monitoring and lifecycle management.
Preferred Requirements
- Familiarity with DataOps and streaming frameworks (e.g., MQTT, Kafka, AMQP), as well as integration tools.
- Understanding of FAIR data principles and data quality/lineage tools.
- Validation expertise (GAMP5/CSA) and experience supporting audits/inspections.
- Experience with major cloud data platforms and analytics integration (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Relevant certifications in data/architecture/OT (e.g., ISA/IEC), and project or Agile methods (e.g., PMP, Scrum).

Your role will shape enterprise architecture and standards across sites, enhance compliance, improve data reliability, and drive analytics enablement within regulated environments, along with guiding technology selection and partnership alignment.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $161,000 to $241,000, with pay varying based on work location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We offer an extensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage, along with a robust 401(k) savings plan and wellness incentives. We also prioritize work-life balance with paid vacation, sick time, and company holidays.
