About the role
Our client is looking for a highly experienced and innovative Principal Industrial Process Engineer to lead the development and optimization of manufacturing processes. This is a fully remote position, offering the unique opportunity to drive significant improvements in industrial operations without requiring physical relocation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of process engineering principles, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and advanced simulation tools. You will be responsible for analyzing existing processes, identifying bottlenecks, designing innovative solutions, and implementing changes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, improve quality, and lower costs. This role requires exceptional analytical skills, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across different geographies. You will play a key role in shaping our client's long-term manufacturing strategy.
Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced industrial processes to optimize manufacturing efficiency and output. Analyze existing production processes, identify areas of inefficiency, and develop data-driven solutions. Apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to reduce waste, improve quality, and streamline operations. Utilize process simulation software to model and test proposed process changes before implementation. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for all manufacturing processes. Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of new processes. Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed process improvements. Provide technical expertise and guidance to manufacturing teams and other stakeholders. Oversee the implementation of new technologies and equipment within the manufacturing environment. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor process performance and identify areas for continuous improvement. Train and mentor junior process engineers and other personnel on process optimization techniques. Ensure all processes comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control requirements. Stay current with industry advancements and emerging technologies in industrial engineering. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on process performance, project status, and recommendations. Lead cross-functional project teams to achieve strategic manufacturing goals. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive experience in industrial process engineering, with a strong track record of successful project delivery. Expertise in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (Black Belt certification preferred), and other continuous improvement methodologies. Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic) and CAD tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Demonstrated experience managing complex engineering projects from conception to completion. Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems. Ability to work independently and lead remote teams effectively. Experience in designing and optimizing processes in various manufacturing sectors. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies. Must have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated remote workspace conducive to complex technical work.
