Principal Mainframe z/OS Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Principal Mainframe z/OS Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of mission-critical financial systems supporting trading, valuation, and fund accounting platforms.

This is a high-impact role where accuracy, performance, and regulatory compliance are non-negotiable.

What You’ll Work On

• Trade lifecycle processing (capture → settlement)
• Fund accounting and investment book of record
• NAV calculation and financial close processes
• Audit replay, reconciliation, and regulatory workflows

Key Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and development of Enterprise COBOL applications
• Own financial accuracy, data integrity, and system reliability
• Design scalable batch processing frameworks (EOD/EOM cycles)
• Handle multi-currency valuation, corporate actions, and accounting logic
• Optimize DB2 performance, indexing, and access paths
• Build integrations using IBM MQ and API enablement (z/OS Connect)
• Troubleshoot production issues (batch failures, reconciliation breaks)
• Support audits (SOX, SEC) with traceability and data replay capabilities

Required Skills

• 18+ years in Mainframe application development
• Expertise in COBOL, DB2, CICS/IMS, JCL
• Strong experience in capital markets / fund accounting systems
• Hands-on with NAV calculation, reconciliation, and valuation engines
• Experience with scheduling tools (Control-M, CA-7, Tivoli)
• Strong knowledge of multi-currency processing, FX, and corporate actions
• Experience in high-volume, mission-critical financial systems
