Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, a market leading manufacturer, seeks to appoint a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer for their Leeds facility. You'll be designing and developing a wide range of mechanical products from initial concept through to finished design.

Role & Responsibilities

• Review new product requests and write project/product specifications and create project plans
• Generate product designs and CAD models, including calculations/analysis both by hand and with the assistance of computer software
• Preparation of manufacturing detail drawings, assembly drawings, schematics and BOMs
• Create test specifications and work with other R&D team members to assemble, test and examine prototype products
• Assist the Sales and Operations departments as required to ensure that customer expectations

Candidate Profile

• HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering as a minimum. Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
• Experienced with 2D and 3D CAD - AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, SolidEdge or equivalent
• Aware of modern manufacturing techniques and materials
• Experience designing complex mechanical pars (hydraulics, pneumatics, pressure related systems)
• Good Communication Skills with customers and suppliers
