The Role

We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of next-generation products from concept through production. This is a high-impact role for a deeply hands-on engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment and wants to own major portions of the product architecture.

You will drive multiple development efforts in parallel, mentor other engineers, and play a key role in shaping both product direction and engineering culture.

What You’ll Do

• Lead end-to-end mechanical system design across multiple product programs
• Architect mechanisms, structures, and assemblies for complex mechanical and electromechanical systems
• Own CAD development (SolidWorks) using advanced modeling techniques (top-down, master modeling)
• Drive prototyping, breadboarding, and iterative development cycles
• Plan and execute verification and validation testing; analyze and act on results
• Apply DFMA principles across injection molding, machining, sheet metal, and welded assemblies
• Collaborate with industrial design, physical therapists and other stakeholders to deliver manufacturable, high-quality user-facing products
• Interface with manufacturing partners (domestic & international) to transition designs into production
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and design guidance to the engineering team
• Support product launches, field testing, and continuous product improvement

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Skills

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
• 7-10 years of hands-on product development experience (consumer products, medical devices, mobility, or similar preferred)
• Proven track record of taking products from concept to production
• Deep expertise in mechanism design, system architecture, and CAD development
• Strong experience with DFMA across multiple manufacturing processes (injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal, welding, etc.)
• High proficiency in SolidWorks and standard engineering tools
• Strong background in prototyping, testing, and iterative development
• Comfortable working in a machine shop environment (mills, lathes, fabrication tools)

• Ability to lead complex technical efforts while remaining deeply involved in the details
• Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and visual/sketching)

Location
