Our client, a leader in advanced manufacturing, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role will be based in Bauchi, Bauchi, NG , with a hybrid work arrangement offering flexibility. You will be responsible for leading complex engineering projects from conception through to completion, focusing on the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in mechanical design principles, advanced simulation tools, and project management methodologies. You will mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and drive innovation within the engineering department. Key responsibilities include conceptualizing new designs, creating detailed engineering drawings and specifications, overseeing prototyping and testing phases, troubleshooting design issues, and ensuring that all designs meet rigorous quality, safety, and performance standards. This role demands a strong analytical mindset, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and production specialists. You will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of mechanical engineering and contributing to the development of cutting-edge products.

Responsibilities: Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems and components. Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software. Perform advanced engineering calculations and simulations (e.g., FEA, CFD). Oversee the prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical designs. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues throughout the product development lifecycle. Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements. Mentor and guide junior mechanical engineers and technicians. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with other product aspects. Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources for assigned engineering tasks. Qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering design and development. Demonstrated experience leading complex engineering projects. Expert proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL). In-depth knowledge of material science, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and solid mechanics. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and principles. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities. Experience with hybrid work models and effective remote collaboration. Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
