Your Role
Supervises the mechanical discipline team on projects. Directs project execution activities and the creation of discipline deliverables for one large project or several smaller projects concurrently. Is responsible for safe and sustainable engineering, quality, cost, and timely delivery of all discipline work. Completes discipline technical work for projects, as time permits.
Responsibilities
- Ensures team members comply with generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and client specifications. Supports standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates. Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and client specifications wherever viable and legal. Uses local and global standards to support technical excellence. Supports verification, peer reviews, and incorporation of feedback and findings.
- Participates in project execution strategy and planning. Is knowledgeable of the project and is responsible for the discipline’s scope, cost, and time requirements, ensures the team meets expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success. Drives innovative solutions, technological advancements, and methods to effectively address out-of-sequence work. Is responsible for the management of changes and project progress for the discipline and works with the project management team to take corrective action regarding any issues, staffing requirements, scope changes, progress, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability. Plans discipline quality, oversees quality activities, drives and participates in team verification, recommends improvements, and takes action when necessary.
- Facilitates the collection of background information and preparation of engineering studies, analyses, calculations, etc. Provides recommendations and assists in creating final documentation. Ensures technical issues are defined with alternative solutions, pros and cons of various solutions are established, and recommendations are made through official project documentation such as technical queries, technical deviations, etc. Ensures final documentation incorporates all pertinent information and obtains client approval. Reviews and approves work performed by direct reports.
- Ensures relevant information is incorporated into equipment and material specifications, data sheets, testing requirements, and material requisitions. Facilitates bid clarification, bid evaluations, review and approval of interdisciplinary vendor information, and other certification activities. Reviews and authorizes work performed by direct reports.
- Seeks input from expert sources, participates in constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews, and ensures requirements are incorporated into engineering and design. Works with field personnel to resolve issues. May create plans or documents that support construction, testing, commissioning, operations, maintenance, or decommissioning. May provide or direct field support for construction, commissioning, or delivery.
Requirements
- Profession: Graduated Civil Mechanical Engineer
- Software, processes, and tools:
- Competent use of the MS Office suite and proficiency in BIM methodology required
- Knowledge of Ecosys, Aveva Engineering, and Aveva ERM desirable
- Language: Conversational intermediate English - Desirable.
