About the role
Our client, a global leader in the mining sector, is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Principal Mining Engineer to contribute to their strategic projects. This is a critical, fully remote position, offering the opportunity to leverage your expertise from anywhere in Nigeria.
Responsibilities: Provide expert technical guidance and leadership in all facets of mining engineering, including mine planning, design, operation, and optimization. Develop and implement advanced mine plans and schedules, ensuring safety, efficiency, and economic viability. Conduct feasibility studies, geological modeling, and resource estimations for new and existing mining projects. Utilize sophisticated modeling software to simulate mine operations and identify potential improvements. Oversee the selection and implementation of appropriate mining equipment and technologies. Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, environmental standards, and best practices in mining operations. Analyze operational data to identify performance bottlenecks and develop solutions for continuous improvement. Mentor and guide junior mining engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation. Collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and environmental specialists to ensure integrated project success. Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders. Stay at the forefront of mining engineering advancements, introducing new technologies and methodologies. Qualifications: Master's or Ph.D. in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mining engineering, with a strong focus on open-pit or underground mining operations. Proven expertise in mine planning software (e.g., MineScape, Vulcan, Deswik) and geological modeling tools. In-depth knowledge of mine economics, financial modeling, and project evaluation. Exceptional understanding of mine safety protocols, environmental management, and regulatory compliance. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities. Demonstrated experience in managing complex mining projects and leading cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently and contribute effectively in a remote setting. Must be authorized to work remotely within Nigeria.
